  9. U Maryland finally has gotten direct remote access to its VICTOR system
  10. for their library system. Here's the info which you may want the BBS's
  11. users know about. It's only advantage over using the MCDPL PAC is it is
  12. direct into UM, if that is the database people want to use, and
  13. periodically the system shows the circulation status if used directly
  14. through UM.
  15. It accepts 300, 1200, and 2400 baud
  16. 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.
  17. Dial 403-4333
  18. Press <return> until the "annex" prompt appears.
  19. At the prompt, type:  telnet victor.umd.edu <return>
  20. At the next prompt type:  PAC
  21. Then you are on, and have pretty decent access speed, considering the
  22. heavy use the telnet system gets....
  23. If users intend to use the U Maryland database, I HIGHLY recommend using
  24. these procedures as the MCDPL access to that database has been quite
  25. erratic.
